Jenni Harper completed the Artist Masters course at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2016, for which she was awarded a Distinction. She holds a First Class degree in Music from the University of Birmingham and is a Britten-Pears Young Artist. She studies singing with Kate Paterson.
Jenni recently performed the role of Drusilla in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea with Hampstead Garden Opera. She sang Mabel in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance for St Albans Chamber Opera in March and covered Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel for Midsummer Opera in November 2016. Over the summer of 2016, she performed the role of Cobweb and covered Tytania in Surrey Opera’s production of Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at The Minack Theatre in Cornwall and Dorking Halls. She also sang Œnone, Matelôte and Une Bergere in Rameau’s Hippolyte et Aricie with Linden Baroque in June 2016. Jenni will sing the roles of Euridice, La Musica and Speranza for Brighton Early Music Festival’s production of Monteverdi’s Orfeo in November 2017.
Concert highlights include singing the Soprano 1 solos in Mozart’s C Minor Mass for the Croydon Bach Choir, with whom she has also sung solos in Handel’s Dixit Dominus. Other recent solo performances have included Haydn’s Nelson Mass, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Haydn’s Paukenmesse and Monteverdi’s Vespers. She has been the featured soloist with Belsize Baroque, singing Bach’s solo cantatas Jauchzet Gott and Ich Habe Genug and was the Soprano 1 soloist for Voce Chamber Choir’s performance of Bach’s B Minor Mass. Jenni will perform solo cantatas with The Little Baroque Company in June 2017 as part of the Stroud Green Music Festival, and will sing a solo recital at The Guards Chapel with accompanist Martin Ford.
